Kennesaw Police are delving into the early Friday morning homicide of 21-year-old Sanifu Henry. Two adolescents are currently detained in Cobb County Jail, facing charges of murder.
KENNESAW, Ga. – Authorities are probing a fatal shooting that transpired in a Cobb County locality during the early hours of Friday.
Officials corroborated that the incident took place quickly after nighttime at a residence located on the 2600 block of McGuire Drive, off Jiles Road in Kennesaw.
According to law enforcement, officers spoke back to reviews of gunfire and observed signs and symptoms of taking pictures on the roadway.
“There have been approximately six or seven gunshots,” mentioned Kevin Jenkins, a resident close to the scene of the incident.
Subsequently, emergency operators were informed that 21-12 months-vintage Sanifu Henry had been admitted to Kennestone Medical Center with gunshot damage.
Henry succumbed to his accidents and became stated deceased at the clinic.
“Sanifu was never one to cause trouble; this is an appalling situation,” stated Mary Mathis, Henry’s mother.
Mathis disclosed that her son had contended with certain disabilities during his upbringing but had triumphantly graduated from Kell High School. She remains puzzled about his presence in the car with the other individuals involved.
“He was compassionate and considerate. To anyone being misled, take this as a cautionary tale to cherish your family dearly, as they may be here today and gone tomorrow,” Mathis imparted.
Kennesaw police have identified two suspects: 18-year-old Zier Xzavier Green and 19-year-old Re’Shard Marquis Lee. Both individuals are currently in custody.
Green and Lee face multiple charges, including two counts of murder, aggravated assault, violating the Georgia Controlled Substances Act with intent to distribute, and possession of a counterfeit substance.
Court records indicate they were found with marijuana and a concoction of marijuana mixed with substances resembling oregano and/or spinach leaves.
Investigators revealed that the group of young men were in a car when a situation, potentially involving drugs, escalated disastrously.
“Such occurrences are highly atypical in this neighborhood. We usually don’t experience anything of this nature, so it was quite startling,” remarked Jenkins.
Security footage captured one individual fleeing through the woods, while neighbors reported another running down the street.
Authorities are nevertheless on the lookout for a fourth person who was in the car.
